North Queensland have received some much-needed good news following coach Graham Murray's resignation with Australian prop Carl Webb extending his contract at the NRL club for a further two years.

Webb's commitment is a show of faith in the Townsville club following a horror 2008 season with the Cowboys sitting second last on the ladder after four straight losses.

"This is a terrific signing for the club. Carl has played his best football at the Cowboys and we look forward to that continuing," Cowboys chief executive Peter Parr said.

After beginning his career in Brisbane, Webb has played 63 first grade games for the Cowboys and 11 State of Origin games in total for Queensland.
